Deborah has a passion for Continued Professional and Personal Development.
During school and afterwards at University, Deborah loved all three sciences which led her into the field of Genetics and Immunology. After university, Deborah spent some time in a research laboratory which helped make advances in Bone Biochemistry.
A few years later, Deborah travelled to the Tri-State Area (USA) and joined a small team of experienced youth workers in New Jersey who championed success in youth engagement through relational youth work. This was a turning point in Deborah’s understanding of managing (young) people through positive relationships.
Upon returning to the UK, Deborah was refocused with deliberate intention to make a difference. She retrained as a chartered certified accountant whilst focussing her spare time on youth work, started choirs, tutored GCSE, A Levels and functional maths skills.
Today, over 20 years later, Deborah is an accomplished financial leader and Chartered Certified Accountant with experience in auditing and internal control across a range of industries including public sector, housing, private and the not-for-profit sectors, commanding a diverse background steering strategic development in the face of significant market change to deliver increased accuracy and transparency of financial information, exceptional budgetary performance and systematic efficiency through systems design that allows scalability of business.
Deborah has a demonstrable track record in a range of sector and industries, providing effective scrutiny and diplomatic challenge to public and private boards ensuring evidence-based decision-making in line with corporate and shareholder values. Deborah confidently leads both sides of internal and external financial and health & safety audits, ensuring compliance through direct engagements with stakeholders at all levels. Deborah continues to champion a culture of diversity and inclusion, empowering individuals with confidence and autonomy to unlock potential for unparalleled performance.
